I have received the College Guides and I have distributed them to students as well as to some faculty members in order to get some feedback. The response so far has been great from the students. As they have gotten copies and reviewed the materials, they have passed the word along for their friends to get copies of the booklet. I think it is very useful with some very beneficial information. I can appreciate the college planning calendar as well as the different to do lists because so many students need this information. The internet resources are a great way for students to also receive information. I am always looking for ways to get information to my students and this is definitely going to help that process. Thank you for sending us our free magazines "College Guide Follow Up." We distributed the magazines to our juniors and seniors. One of the pages inside the magazine that dealt with college planning throughout the year seemed very helpful and students seemed to focus a lot of attention particularly to this page. We received our guides on Friday and I reviewed it yesterday. As a counselor I really appreciate the Southeast College Directory, the phone numbers and email addresses of colleges that most of our students apply to is a valuable asset-- right at my fingertips. The informational articles are brief and to the point (more likely to be read); 3. It is local, with an emphasis on GA and the southeast; 4. It reinforces what we are telling students; 5. It looks great and includes so many helpful facts. I like that it includes popular colleges as well as some that students wouldn’t normally think of attending. I have had to create my own pamphlets in the past for the exact types of information you incorporated, so that will help me greatly as well! I can’t wait to see the “printed” version. My only complaint…Where is my alma mater, Valdosta State University?! It probably has the most beautiful campus in the world! STUDENT COMMENT
I really like The College Guide. It gives a lot of information and it’s very useful. I read the whole magazine, even the pages with all the colleges and their address and phone numbers. I really find that useful, because as we talked about, I can call the Clark Atlanta admissions office and have them put me on their mailing list. One thing that I really loved about it was the inside scoop, but what disappointed me was that there was only one college inside scoop. It would have been better, I personally think, if there was more like maybe two or three other colleges. The one thing that I absolutely adore about this magazine is the College Planning Calendar. It is so useful. I’m actually going to use it to check off all the things that I have to do this year; it’s going to be a very busy year. I’ll be so glad once I get to college and get everything over with. I don’t think there’s anything that I would change about this article because it’s really amazing. It’s very helpful in choosing what college to go to and how to find information online about financial aid and scholarships, test preparation sites, and other things. I know that because of this magazine, I won’t have to worry about what to take with me when I go to college. I know that this is a magazine that I will keep with me to check off things until I get to college. One thing that I suggest the publisher do is to post a survey on where kids in Georgia are going to college in order that there is more about the actual colleges that the kids are going to instead of random colleges. I really would’ve liked if there were some information about Clark but there wasn’t, so I have to find the information I need some other way. I know it probable irks you that I talk about Clark so much and I’m sorry, I just love the college and I really want to go there badly. I don’t think that the publisher should change anything, but just add more and like I said the actual colleges that high school students are planning to go to. I love the fact that they tell the truth about student loans because many people are misguided about that and now they struggle to make a living because of it. I love this magazine, so keep me posted if and whenever they send you issues.
